How to play Texas Holdem

Almost everyone can play poker. It is a relatively easy game. It takes only 5 minutes to learn its rules. Of course, one needs training in order to become a professional player, but there are no limitations apart from free time and a small sum of money to start with.

Even the best handbook will not make one the master of World Series Of Poker. In order to be a success and learn different strategies one needs to play as much as possible.

We can only draw your attention to a few basic and most important issues you might never have thought of or dealt with. It will help you to avoid greater loses and if you meet weaker players, you will find it easier to win.

Be patient, play wisely
Choose the first two cards (the starting hands) very carefully. Do not be tempted to play too much deals. If you choose weak cards and you feel that yours are worse than that of your opponent - do fold. It is not worth to play every single card. Poker is not only your cards; it is also your opponent and his cards. Do not lead a king against a four just because king is a strong card. Wait until the king will come with one more king or an ace, and then enter the game aggressively! At the very beginning of holdem do limit your hands with which you will enter the deal, to: AA, KK, QQ, AK, AQ, AJ, JJ, 10-10. After some time, when you become more experienced, you will be able to broaden the range of your hands.

To sum up, play according to a simple rule: you only enter with strong cards and bet if you have a good hand. Leave the bluffs and strong raises for the professionals. It is the only way in which you will have a chance to become one of them.

Know your opponent
Observe your opponents' playing very carefully and try to assess which style of playing they have chosen; this will allow you to make best decisions. Decide whether they are tight-aggressive (aggressive, but careful) or just the opposite, loose-aggressive (aggressive maniacs who will raise the bet regardless of what cards they have). Poker is not only your cards, it is reading the opponents, their behaviour, and trying to assess what cards they may have. If you recognize the type of the opponent successfully, it will greatly facilitate the game and increase your chance to win!

Bankroll management
Avoid bankruptcy; remember about few important rules of good bankroll management. When you play at 0,5/1$ fixed limit tables, your bankroll is min. 300$ and the optimal option is 500$. When you lose, do not try to make up for it; just quit. When you lose what you have won before, get back to the lower limit and win until you will be able to play at the higher limit tables again.

Our suggestions are just the bases; in order to learn more about poker, browse through the professional literature and the Internet sites, and train by playing online.

Do analyse your game, draw conclusions and try to match the way you play with your opponents - only then will you have a chance to become one of the new poker masters.
